Kara Menendez

Account Exectutive

Kara Menendez joined CoreMessage in 2008 as an account executive. At CoreMessage, Kara works with clients to develop communication strategies in order to convey each client's unique message.

Prior to joining the CoreMessage team, Kara served in the Executive Office of the Governor for both Governor Jeb Bush and Governor Charlie Crist. Under Governor Bush, Kara worked as an analyst in the Appointments Office, vetting applicants and reaching out to local leaders around the state to receive input. She also prepared briefing materials and recommendations for appointments, as well as briefing senior advisors on her recommendations. Once an appointment was made, Kara prepared all necessary paperwork for the Secretary of State and wrote press releases announcing Governor Bush's appointment.

Kara served in several capacities under Governor Crist, first working on the Crist-Kottkamp Transition Team providing administrative support to senior campaign and administration officials. Once Governor Crist took office, Kara continued working in the Appointments Office, providing input and research on appointments for constitutional officers and judges around the state. Kara joined the Governor's Press & Communications Office in the fall of 2007 as speechwriter for Governor Crist and Lt. Governor Jeff Kottkamp. Kara was responsible for writing speeches, press releases, media advisories and related media. She also provided assistance to the communications team on special projects as needed.

Before joining the Governor's Office, Kara worked as the editorial coordinator for the Florida Sheriff's Association's Sheriff Star Magazine's Guide to Government. In this capacity, Kara updated contact information for local, state and federal government agencies and officials. She edited and formatted all information received for the 60-page publication. While an undergraduate student, Kara interned with Rowland Publishing where she developed and researched assigned article topics. She contacted individuals for interviews and gathered supporting information for articles. Her articles contributed to the publication of Tallahassee Magazine and Emerald Coast Magazine.

A native of Florida, Kara graduated from Florida State University with a degree in English and a minor in business.
